Meet John Weber

Hello, my name is John M. Weber and I have been a licensed Real Estate Broker for over 28 years. I am currently an Associate  Broker in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia where I sell luxury properties at The Greenbrier Sporting Club.  I am part of a sales team that sells the luxury real estate at The Greenbrier. There are four of us who have been friends for years and together we have over 110 years experience selling luxury homes. This blog is dedicated to the lifestyle of The Greenbrier and The Greenbrier Sporting Club. I discuss what it’s like to live at The Sporting Club, unique properties that we sell and the hidden gems we offer that not many people know about. Come with me as I take you on a ride of dreams at the fabulous Greenbrier!

A Smart Savvy Builder at The Greenbrier

A smart savvy builder at The Greenbrier Tony Mamone is a survivor!  You have to be a survivor as a luxury home builder through the last 6-8 years!  I have known many builders who built very expensive homes throughout Florida and the Charleston/Savannah area.  They didn’t survive.  Tony is a West Virginia builder through and through and he survived in a big way!  I have known Tony since 2004 but I never really captured his story until I sat down and talked with him for this blog post.  I met him at his office in White Sulphur Springs, WV.  Tony’s building company is called Pinnacle Group.  The first thing that strikes you is how fit he is.  He is 63, but you would never know it.  He takes care of himself and it shows! The story starts back in the early to mid seventies.  Tony and his brother used to handle flooring for the area’s builders.  They would install carpet for the local builders in this area.  He is from Bluefield, West Virginia.  After  observing the area builders for awhile, Tony looked at his brother and said, “hell–we can do a better job at building a home than these guys”!  And so it started….. As Tony built homes his travels took him to a Community called Glade Springs (now owned by Jim Justice).  One day in 2000 a couple of gentlemen from The Greenbrier Sporting Club walked in and got to know him a little bit.  They took note of his good work.  The Sporting Club was just starting.  One thing led to another and they asked... read more

Resort Real Estate Price Summary

Resort Real Estate Price Summary I spent 10 years of my life in Vero Beach Florida managing Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club.  Orchid was really great!  We took over when it came out of bankruptcy and sold it out completely!  When I was there I got to know two lovely ladies by the name Lil Miller and Marie Roberts.  These two ladies have a company called Private Communities Registry.  You can find them at Private Communities.  They are based in Vero Beach.  This is a great resource for anyone looking for real estate in a private club setting. Below is a list of 32 communities with a list of their price ranges.  Because of the format on this page it is kind of hard to spread it out across the page.  To read it properly just follow the LOW HIGH straight down the page and you can line up the pricing for the correct product.   Community        Lots           Lots         Homes     Homes         Condos      Condos Townhome Townhome   Sailfish Point 365,000 1,600,000 1,050,000 20,000,000 665,000 2,100,000 730,000 1,800,000 Stuart, Florida Kiawah Island 165,000 4,750,000 459,000 18,000,000 200,000 2,245,000 Kiawah Island, South Carolina John’s Island 850,000 7,000,000 750,000 13,000,000 500,000 3,000,000 250,000 1,250,000 Vero Beach, Florida Orchid Island 150,000 5,000,000 800,000 10,000,000 925,000 2,500,000 800,000 1,300,000 Vero Beach, Florida Ocean Reef Club  1,000,000 11,000,000 200,000 10,000,000 190,000 5,000,000 200,000 5,000,000 Key Largo, Florida The Point at Trump National Golf Club  100,0001,000,000550,0009,000,000 Mooresville, North Carolina Desert Mountain  75,000  1,800,000  600,000  8,000,000 Scottsdale, Arizona... read more

The Greenbrier Concerts Series – 2015

The Greenbrier Concert Series – 2015 The amazing Greenbrier has announced the Concert Series entertainment for 2015.  Keith Urban and The Band Perry will be performing on July 1, 2015 and Miranda Lambert along with her husband, Blake Shelton will perform on July 3rd.  This is my 3rd year with the Concert Series and it seems to get bigger each year.  The first year was Kenny Chesney & AeroSmith and last year it was Jimmy Buffett. July 1st Listen to Keith Urban & The Band Perry Keith Urban is HUGE! His seventh studio album called “FUSE”, his fourth #1 album, marked the first time that a male Country artist has debuted atop the all-genre charts in the United States, Canada and Australia. “FUSE’s” first single, “Little Bit of Everything” took the top spot on the Country Singles Chart, as did “We Were Us”, featuring Miranda Lambert, which gave Urban a streak of five consecutive #1 songs (dating back to 2011’s “Without You”).  In fact, with the current top 5 performance of “FUSE’s” fifth single “Raise ‘Em Up” (featuring Eric Church), Keith extended his lead as the artist with the most consecutive top 10 songs on Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart, a streak which started in August of 2000. Keith has won eleven Academy of Country Music Awards and has had 17 #1 songs and five consecutive platinum or multi-platinum albums. In 2012 he became a member of the Grand Ole Opry.  Let’s not forget he is married to Nichol Kidman.  Gee, maybe we will see them walking around The Greenbrier!  Maybe I will sell them a house!  Everyone needs a mountain home!... read more

Jacob Ott – At peace with West Virginia nature!

Jacob Ott – At peace with West Virginia nature My time with Jacob Ott was really great!  I did not know Jacob very well, but I wanted to write this blog post to highlight what Jacob offers our members at The Greenbrier Sporting Club.  When I approached Jacob about writing this blog post he said, “sure, come on over and let’s fish and then we can talk!”  I thought that was very cool!  Twist my arm….is what I said!  It has been 20 years since my last fishing experience, but I was game to give it a go. Jacob has been with Greenbrier Sporting Club since 2001 (the very beginning) when he came to work as the club naturalist. He is a FFF certified fly casting instructor and a NSCA & NRA certified shooting instructor.  The Sporting Club members have Jacob as their very own Director of Outdoor Pursuits.  What ever the members want to organize and do in the wild, Jacob is there to help them and guide them in their pursuits.  Fishing is clearly the number one thought in a whole host of things to do at The Greenbrier Sporting Club.  I am excluding golf from this list.  When members fish on the property they fish on Howard’s Creek.  The creek runs right through the entire property. Most people and hotel guests at The Greenbrier fish for Rainbow and Brown Trout.  There are also small mouth bass in the creek.  EVERYTHING is catch and release. After a few casting lessons from Jacob I waded into Howard’s Creek and began fly fishing.  I could clearly see that Jacob... read more

March in the WV Mountains

March in the WV Mountains March in the WV mountains can be cold, brilliant, windy, rainy, sunny and all of the above!  We had a lot of snow in early March here at The Greenbrier from heavy snow fall in February.  One day I was up at The Summit and took the picture above.  Once you get up to the Summit the views can be stunning.  Of course only our members can enjoy this view because it is part of  The Greenbrier Sporting Club. Chocolate, Chocolate and more Chocolate! One day I was walking through the lobby of The Greenbrier and there was a new addition.  Three golden Easter eggs.  These eggs are made from chocolate though.  Chef Jean-Francois Suteau at The Greenbrier created this wonderful display! One week later Chef Suteau created another Easter display in the downstairs lobby.  This one is 700 lbs of chocolate.  Can you believe that?  700 lbs!  I just want to eat one of those CHICKS!!! The New Greenbrier Tennis Stadium is coming! The new Greenbrier Tennis Stadium is coming!!  I shot this picture the other day of the construction progress.  You can clearly see the stands talking shape!  That is Howard’s Creek right next to the stadium.  The Tennis Stadium will seat 2,500 people and will host premier tennis matches beginning June 20, 2015 with Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi playing head to head!  Homes under construction at The Greenbrier Sporting Club The picture here is a nice shot of two homes being built on The Old White Golf Course  at The Greenbrier.  As I drive around The Greenbrier I would say he... read more

Do real estate agents show other agents listings?

Do real estate agents show other agents listings? That is an age old question. The answer is YES and NO!  I know that is a cop out but it is a slightly complex answer.  I have been a Real Estate Broker for 28 years and have held a Brokers license in West Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.  That is seven states in 28 years.  I get a headache thinking about it!  Just kidding, but that is a lot of schooling and a lot of tests!  It also is a lot of experience!  Real world experience! The Real Estate Agents Goal The real estate companies goal is to establish what is known as market share.  That is to get as many listings as you can and control the market.  If a real estate company obtains as many listings as possible they will enter them into the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).  This way all agents who are members of the MLS will see the active listings.  If an “outside” agent shows and sells the property, the listing company will get half of the commission (and usually some of the credit).  When I say “outside” agent, I mean a real estate agent who is not part of the listing companies agents.  It’s a great system to sell property, but in the world of “general real estate” it can make the listing company a bit lazy and self reliant on using the MLS.  Many times they don’t really have a marketing plan, they just put the listing in the MLS, have a few open houses and hope for... read more
